We are very grateful to dn-a architecture who have provided pro bono support with intial concepts, drawings and illustrations. The brief for our hub presented a great opportunity for their young team of architects to come up with a building using the latest in green technology to make it as sustainable as possible.

The building has been designed to fit within the hardstanding and footprint of the previous old sports pavilion without overwhelming the green space, taking into account the need to be flood resilient.
Laleham Park is such a beautiful setting that we propose a raised outdoor seating area to relax with family and friends whilst enjoying the food and drink from the café, and elevated views of the park.
The community garden area has the potential to grow fruit and vegetables to be used in the café.
We envisage our café to have a dedicated dog-friendly area, as the park is very popular with dog wallkers. The café will generate funds to help maintain the building, as well as jobs, work experience and training opportunities for students at Brooklands College catering department.

We would also like to offer opportunities for students in the art and design and construction department at Brooklands College to be part of the design and build process with opportunites for the interior design and work experience or apprenticeships in the construction industry.
The flexible community space will provide revenue and opportunities for meetings, fundraising events, classes, art gallery, training, educational talks and workshops.

Steps and ramp will be integrated into the landscape for easy access for those with disabilities and wheelchair users.
